Meeting links have been redesigned. The new links are clearer, and they keep working even when the meeting name changes.

New link format

The link of a new meeting has two parts: a short 6-character key and an ending built from the name, for example abc123-meeting. Only the first part identifies the meeting. The ending is just decoration that tells a person what the link is about.

In practice this has three benefits:

• The link doesn't break when the name changes. If you rename a meeting, links you have already shared keep working.
• Each language has its own ending. The Finnish link can be abc123-kokous and the English one abc123-meeting. English messages use the English link.
• The link works even without the ending. Just abc123 is enough.

Links of existing meetings

Meetings you have already created work as before, and you don't need to do anything. If you want, you can still switch an old link to the new format in the meeting settings under Link format.

Before switching, keep in mind:

• After the switch, the old link only works if its first part can be kept. Check the new link after switching and share it with participants again.
• The switch cannot be undone.
• The switch is optional. The old link keeps working without it.

Minor fixes

The Places icon now also appears in the meeting creation view. We have also made background updates that you won't notice, but which keep the service running smoothly.
