This is quite a sizeable update, bringing new features and improvements. Let's go through the bigger ones.
Announcements
A new announcements section has been added and is visible on the front page.
Announcements are also posted on Mastodon, so it's worth following there. Updates about upcoming things may also appear there with a lower threshold.
Visual Design
The visual design has been updated in several different places, and help texts have been added.
The front page has received a new layout and adjustments, as have the header and footer.
The account page has also been completely redesigned with a fresh new look.
Passkey
Passkey support has been introduced and you can now enable it through your account page. 2FA is coming later.
Other Updates
There are also other updates, both smaller and larger.
The forum will be closing permanently once the announcements have been migrated over to this side.
In this version, search engine visibility is improved and new features were introduced, such as the development page going live.

New Features
Here are the biggest features from this release – and there are quite a few.
Calendar picker for adding meetings
When adding or editing a meeting, dates can now be selected from a calendar. 1–3 months are shown depending on screen size, and by clicking a month you can select the dates directly.
This speeds up meeting creation, as you no longer need to search through the old date input field.
Registration moved to its own page
Previously, registering for a meeting happened through a popup/modal. Now the registration button takes you directly to a dedicated registration page.
As an added benefit, the meeting management view gained the ability to link directly to the registration page.
Links have arrived in meetings
You can now add links to a meeting. After creating a meeting, you can edit the displayed links – for example Teams, Google Meet, or any other links.

Replies to meeting comments
Comments could already be added to meetings. Now you can also reply to them. In the meeting management view, you can configure whether only the meeting creator or anyone can reply.

Changing a meeting password now correctly invalidates active sessions
Clear error message when a share link is entered instead of a management link during meeting claiming
A notice is shown when a meeting has no available times to display
Full time slots are checked more thoroughly during registration and feedback is shown to the user

New features
Share links in Finnish and English in the meeting management view
Version number visible in the footer
Tapaaminen.net has now received what is perhaps its biggest update in years. Version 2026.2 is a major update both in terms of the user interface and under the hood.
General
The user interface has been completely redesigned using Tailwind and brought to a more modern look overall.
Tapaaminen.net is now also available in English in addition to Finnish. The entire application should be translated. If you find any odd translations or untranslated parts, please let us know!
Under the hood, Laravel has also been updated to the latest version and a large set of tests has been written to minimize the risk of something breaking in future updates.
Security improvements have also been made, building on the groundwork laid by previous updates.
Meeting
Meeting creation has been redesigned as well, and it is now possible to limit participation per time slot when creating a meeting.
Meeting management has likewise been redesigned with additional features added. You can for example copy an existing meeting to use as a base for a new one.
Registration has also been redesigned and made more functional.
Other
Google ReCaptcha has been removed and replaced with a honeypot-style solution. This will be monitored and if spam becomes an issue, an alternative solution will be put in place.
The newsletter subscription has been disabled as no one was sending those newsletters (me) and it was deemed unnecessary. Mailchimp is therefore no longer in use. Updates will from now on be shared on the Forum and on Mastodon.
The beta version has been running for a long time and most of the features have already been there. Over the past couple of weeks more has been added and quite a lot has happened under the hood.
As part of the update, versioning is being introduced and from now on release notes will be posted here on the forum.
